Sorry, hang on, continuum wobbles. It felt like I just discussed a serious work topic in a Madvent thread... nah, can't be.

Steady on there! We wouldn't want to cause a ruction.

NORTH! [i can't remember how to spell your name... :(]

Trade prizes?

This is a good idea, actually. I'm about to PM him and will float your suggestion.

I'm actually doing work.

Creating Madvent decorations != work.

Testing a new helpdesk = work.

Larking about on video =FOR ME REALLY DOES= work

(I'm so lucky)

@VeryPC Al - As the end of the week approaches, isn't it time we had another opportunity to earn a bonus entry into the draw?

Pleeeeease!

:p

Good point - I did promise you another of those [opportunities]. Let me have a think...

Well in an effort to maintain the equilibrium of the continuum, given @X-13's sudden burst of responsible employment, I'll abscond from work for the rest of the day and eat all these biscuits I'm being given instead. Current count: two boxes of Waitrose Christmas chocolate biscuit selection*, a tin of Fabulously Fox's, a tin of McVities Victoria selection, a box of Cadbury's Fingers (three flavours) and an Asda Extra Special Belgian Yule Log.

I love my school.

I'll do some work tomorrow or something. No, wait, I'll just watch the pantomime rehearsals in the name of ensuring that our video-link between halls is working. Cushty!

*one of these was technically payment for laptop data recovery, for which I did none of the work. I still ate the biscuits though.

Why you make me sad?

I did get a chocolate Santa from the boss which was nice. Oh and I ate most of the biscuits sent to the office. *scoff* *scoff*

@north-ict is okay with his original prize actually, so no deal required it turns out. Thanks for offering though, could have been useful.

Get a real job and stop making me feel bad.

Soz - not trying to gloat - just really enjoy my job!

Still sounds a bit gloaty doesn't it? How about - "I am grateful for my work and do not hate my employment totally"?

I'm actually doing work.

So far today, my 'work' has included:

  • editing a video of last week's concert;
  • watching a theatre company perform Mother Goose in the school hall;
  • leading a lunchtime play session;
  • taking photos of the upper junior parties for the school website.

Oh, and embellishing my Father Christmas disguise after yesterday.

I love my job! :D

Downside is I'm missing MADvent. Still got two vids to catch up with. I may even have won and not know about it! No? Ah, well. There's always tomorrow...

Edit: Bonus - A teacher has just been in and given me a bottle of something, saying she doesn't know if I like it but it'll come in handy if I get a cold. I'm guessing it's either whisky or night nurse.

I have a slightly expanded roll, I now look after reports and data too. Our year 11 reports are due in January, so I'm halfway thought designing the new reports an system for staff to complete them!

A NMs job list is never finished, it just get more add on the end!

Your job sounds quite similar to mine (although I've managed to dodge the Santa duties as the Head teacher's husband has been roped in to that) and I too love my job! :o

If anyone is remotely interested, I've uploaded a video of one of our Christmas plays (our hall isnt big enough to fit everyone in so we have three plays - last one tomorrow!) to our website

Very similar indeed. We too have three plays - one for local pensioners, one for rest of the school and an evening performance for parents, etc. Here is my webpage about last year's performances, if anyone is remotely interested.

@hallb15 - I clicked your link but couldn't get it to load the video at first. Looked at your source and tried the Vimeo URL directly to see if it was blocked but that worked ok. Refreshed your page and it worked. I'll watch that when I get home later, along with the two MADvent videos I've missed!

Edit: Sorry about the double post! For some reason, when I clicked Post Quick Reply it took me to the Go Advanced screen. Thinking I'd clicked the wrong button I posted again. Ah well, it's almost Christmas! :D Edited by StevieM

@hallb15 @StevieM

Thanks for the peeks into your schools' Christmas festivities guys. Love some of the costumes (Mario, Spongebob and what I think is a set of reindeer with jazzed up new names - cool).

Judging by the "other" work all you techs sometimes talk about, I can see that your job roles extend far beyond supporting IT. It seems to me like if you use a computer to do it and no-one else knows how, then it must be the job of the IT team.

Hats off to you I say!
