Does anyone use Papercut with the Paypal payment system? If so what are your experiences?

Do students need paypal accounts?

How do you deal with refunds?

Do students get charged a Paypal fee for topping up?

Been in talks with supplier. I don't think the kids need PayPal accounts. We need the PayPal account. Not sure on other details yet.

Firstly the paypal gateway requires an addon licence so there is a cost involved

You need to create a Paypal business account : https://www.paypal.com/uk/webapps/mpp/home-merchant

there's a free account which clearly displays the paypal website , or a £20 per month option which can hide the paypal screens

then open up your firewall to allow the paypal servers to communicate directly with your papercut server

then the actual papercut setup is actually about half an hours work.

When someone uses it, they ask for say a £10 to be transferred to their account, they are redirected to paypal they can pay with either their own paypal account or just a credit card

and £10 will be added to their account instantly in papercut. However paypal take their costs out so only approx. £9.50 will go into your business account. which then needs to be transferred to your actual bank account on a fortnightly/monthly manual transfer.

refunds have to be handled internally. ie you give the person the cash back, or manually transfer it from your business account back to their paypal account

Hope that helps
