[android] S4 freezes on lock screen.

My work phone has juts started doing this... When it's locked, after a few minutes the phone stops responding to anything. [if it's charging the light stays on even when the cable is pulled]

 

I've had a look at the apps and there are a lot of things I want to disable, but can't.

 

I'm running 4.3, no root, standard ROM. The only thing that gets it working again is pulling the battery and rebooting.

 

Any ideas why this is breaking now?

It's been fine up until now, I did the update a while ago...

 

 

And further testing shows it only crashes when on charge. [it was fine when I went out to get lunch but froze about a minute after I plugged it in...]

Have you added any widgets to the lock screen? If so may be worth clearing them and seeing if the problem persists.

Probably... It's just strange that it started happening so long after doing the update.

 

 

It's currently back in the box, in our business managers office, ready to go back for repair/replacement.

 

It was fine this morning, now it's bricked.

Updated my S3 the other night and it is now practically useless...

 

Wake-up lag, when it wakes up instantly goes back to sleep, random lock ups which require a battery pull, i have about 15 '@' symbols in place of my carrier (EE), receiving text messages twice and battery life is just awful.

 

Eurgh! Thanks a lot, Samsung.
