I need to invest in some new wellies and am totally unsure what to buy!

Hunters are now made in China and not what they used to be and I would be happy to spend a bit to get some that will last.

What would you guys recommend up to about £50 maybe a little more?

Muck boots are great in mud/snow etc, not so good on smooth surfaces like tarmac/concrete especially if it's wet. Still really good though, I go trolling off in very muddy, hilly fields most days and the difference compared to my old wellies is incredible. It's just when you get on pavements and the like they can be a bit slippy.

Pretty much anything designed for use around boats or horses is going to be good although I have a pair of Hunters with the adjustable calf strap as Wellies are never wide enough for my fat calves and I adore them - not sure what you mean when you say they aren't what they used to be?

Hunter sold up and moved to China.

now made in Serbia (really) after Hunter closed their Dumfries operation and moved production to China. Tigar bought the plant and equipment + the unique latex sock dipping process which made Hunter's so good. They are available in the UK under the Century Dip-Tech brand

Have a look on eBay for something along the lines of these, or these.

Never heard any complaints about Jollys.

I have a couple of ex Fire Service rubber wellies great for the snow, rest of the time I just wear a boot, although for comfort the Jollys are good and I believe they do a boot version too.
