Ipad 2 Fault

I have a 16GB iPad 2 that for some reason does not want to charge anymore either via iTunes or via the wall outlet, the cable is fine as is the wall plug, as I use the same ones to charge my phone. Even when the ipad is connected to the Mac it is not seen either, is there anything I can try other than holding down the home and sleep buttons at the same time as this did nothing or is it a terminal problem.

 

We don't have an apple store in our area so cant nip it round there either, does anybody have any suggestions please ???

Only other things you could check would involve stripping it down to get to the internals... replace dock connector module etc.

That's what I was fearing :-(, as its out of warranty apple wanted £25 just to talk about it.

Is it an original cable? I had a replacement cable for mine (original plug though) and it wouldn't work - had to pay out for an original one.

This is interesting because we've had a few problems with our iPADs and we've tracked it down to a fault with the cables - it looks like a couple have simply given up the ghost - swapping the cable out enables them to be recharged again. They were original Apple cables as well - the ones supplied with the devices.

I had an original apple charger blow up on me the other day. It ejected the USB from the adapter and everything was charred black. Shorted the power luckily.

All sorted thanks guys, turned out to be the connector module a local shop charged us £50 to repair it, cant go wrong for that price.
