Removing Windows 8 Metro

Hello Wondering if someone could help

 

I'm trying to remove the Windows 8 metro screen for our students Tablets and bring back the start button, all attempts I've made so far have been application based works find however students are able to change the settings back. Dose anyone know of other way's of doing this via group policy or registry hacks?

Try having a look at Classic Shell

It's not like the good ol' days where you could make Windows 95 boot in to Program Manager so it looked like 3.1 is it........

Thanks Michael, Classic Shell was one of the options i tried worked find however could work out how to stop everyone from having access to revert the setting back.... and Jawloms i agree with what your saying...

I doubt you'll be able to do more than software hacks, Metro is Micorsoft's baby and they're steadfastly refusing to dump it. the 8.1 upgrade allows you to boot straight to desktop, but one tap of the Windows Key or Start Button takes you straight back to Metro

These registry settings lock Classic Shell down and stop the students getting round your settings

I'm using 3.6.8 on my Win7 Pc's and 4.0.2 on my Win8 Pc's giving a uniform look and feel regardless of platform

hmm .. those settings don't work for me on Win 8.1 with 4.0.2
