Hi,

Just deployed a load of laptops running Windows 7 Pro... Only to notice that it was set to use a MAK key and not KMS.

Is there a script or something that I can use on startup/login that will change it to KMS and activate?

Thanks!

As you say the VAMT tool is no good really because the machines have to be on.

Running this as a startup script will do it. (batch file)

cscript C:\Windows\System32\slmgr.vbs /ipk FJ82H-XT6CR-J8D7P-XQJJ2-GPDD4
cscript C:\Windows\System32\slmgr.vbs /ckms

NOTE: That code is for change Windows 7 Pro to KMS. Its not a personal key, its widely available on the internet and published by Microsoft. Other operating systems can be found here - Appendix A: KMS Client Setup Keys

EDIT: You will need to make it so the script only runs once, or it will run on every startup. I will see i can amend it.

This script will only run on startup once.

if exist "C:\Windows\KMS-Convert.txt" goto :eof ELSE
cscript C:\Windows\System32\slmgr.vbs /ipk FJ82H-XT6CR-J8D7P-XQJJ2-GPDD4
cscript C:\Windows\System32\slmgr.vbs /ckms>C:\Windows\KMS-Convert.txt
