Laptop Recomendation

Good Morning,

 

I wonder if I could get your thoughts on budget laptops, as times are hard we cant afford to buy 30 top of the range laptops for use in school and would like to look at our options if you don't mind sharing your opinions;

 

We are looking for something like as follows;

 

15" screens

Wireless N (2.4 but 5ghz would be nicer).

Hard Drive size is not an issue as we are only using about 20GB of the current drives

RAM (as much as possible)

OS (cheapest possible option as we have an EES licence)

Warrant as much as possible

 

Any recommendations to look at or avoid would be greatly appreciated.

How cheap do you call cheap?

 

For most our schools we support who don't run Dell we get HP laptops, for £2-300 depending on offers etc you normally get i3/AMD equiv. 500GB HDD, and 4GB RAM.

The last lot of Stone laptops that we bought were in the region of £350 I think. They are rebadged Clevo NT310s with 4GB RAM, 500GB storage and an i3 2.5GHzish CPU. They're OK, not the best ever but perfectly fine for the money. 4 Year warranty and dual band wireless too.

Thinbooks come with a 3-year warranty (can be upgraded to 5). VeryPC will also build to your specs. I've just ordered two of their desktops, custom made to my requirements and with no OS as we also have EES and will be doing a clean install.

 

(And they're great bunch of people!)
