Ie: I want to access some printer configs via the browser but instead of getting the relevant printer page I'm getting Bing search results for the internal ip!?! Thanks

I think what Admiral208 means is that you would still need to add these addresses in to the bypass proxy server for local address list in the browser, as you would for any proxy type environment. Otherwise the browser will assume you are referencing an external IP.

Otherwise the browser will assume you are referencing an external IP. That wasn't my understanding of how Lightspeed works. I don't have one in place but from what I've seen from the sales speak/literature no connections are proxied so there is no need to have any exceptions.

glen_j Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 we have lightspeed and have no issues connecting to local printers etc via their ip address in the browser. we have no exceptions for local addresses in internet explorer.

What I was saying is that regardless of if have a light speed or not, if you are trying to navigate to a local IP address and its taking you to the internet, adding a proxy exception should resolve the problem. Thanks There's an IP ignore list on the rocket. Suggest you put it in there. This should only matter if you are using the client install. Thanks Dave 1

This was a weird one that actually just started working about 45 minutes after me posting this call! Thanks for the suggestions though. And by the way, after more testing I'm so glad we chose the Lightspeed now. The product is good, the support is fantastic and all at what I consider to be a realistic price!!! hawc Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 Here is another solution. Try and edit the hosts file in windows and point the ip address to the ip address of the printers concerned

It sounds like it was a local routing issue, or a browser not correctly determining the protocol correctly. Any chance it is http/https traffic over a none standard port? If it was, always ensure you type http:// eg. http://10.1.2.3:9191 We use the lightspeed client on 450 PC's and 20 Macs - if you had any questions @Edu-IT ? 1

Like I said. ^^ I think the bing search from the address bar is the issue, I've experienced the same and I use smoothwall.
