Hi

Just wondered what software/systems others are using for asset management?

Just been tasked with putting together something a bit more substantial than an excel s/sheet.

Cheers

Thanks for those, Im starting from nothing, so it will need to be for IT and non IT equipment.

Im interested in what minimum value people assign to define a fixed asset?

It will be from an Accounting, insurance and inventory point of view.

All I can find so far here is an old excel spreadsheet....

Depends for what purpose.

For accounting purposes, our de minimis value is £500. This is also our insurance excess I believe.

However, for internal purposes, anything over £50 is logged on our inventory, and even less if the item is particularly steal-able (cameras, microphones etc...).

We record the following values:

Replacement cost

Current book value

Last year value

So, that way we have the cost of the item when it was bought, and then values for depreciation purposes. We use straight line for that, with differing percentages for different types of asset.

I set up an Access database with tables for Item, Supplier and Owner and tied them all together. Nothing too fancy but quick and easy to setup and maintain. Minimum value was £50 anything "not new" was a judgement call.

Can track what we have, who has what, what we've bought from whom and what we've disposed of which is mainly what I get asked.
