Hi,

Is Photoshop CS3 deployable? Does it have an MSI installer? What is the rough price of a site licence for 300 machines?

Thanks

I don't know about CS3 - but I know you can get the Adobe Schools Collection with is Photoshop Elements and Premiere elements (for video editing) as a bundle really cheaply.

I just paid about £2k for 600 licenses which works out at £3.30 per machine. This was buying three packs of 200 licenses.

Both these can be deployed by MSI so I am guessing CS3 should be too - you have to do an admin install first and then edit the answer file - pretty straight forward.

From what I understand Adove have cut back the number of people that can sell their licenses in the UK - so you may have to scout around to find someone that can sell it to you. I have a contact if you want it but it took them eight weeks to deliver so they are not really recommended.

Just bought the creative suite 3 web premium (which includes photoshop cs3) site licence for 4.1k. There is a creative suite 3 design (not premium) that includes photoshop cs3 which is cheaper, but has less programs all together. the web premium was the best option for us.

Oh and forget easy msi deploy! A guy here did say he'd found a way and would post later, but he never did :(

Its is msi, BUT it wont deploy using this.

I have a method right now to strip everything out (such as Version Cue client) of the CS3 studio but you will need to use a script to deploy it.

The MSI's included appear to be rewritten (in memory) and merged with the root msi in the install directory. E.G. that msi does not have the full tables needed to deploy but as each component comes along (such as photoshop)

That was me btw ;)

sorry for not posting but I have been v busy lately.

I gave up - even tried AutoIT - but even it couldn;t cope with a mass deployment - so ended up making a new Image with CS3 installed!

Illustrator CS3 could be described as unstable. I had a really good error today: "The operation cannot complete because of an unknown error. [CANT]"

Can't what? So if you are using the suite with illustrator you need to deploy 13.0.1 and 13.0.2 patches, yes they have be done sequentially (at least on OS X)

The following method worked for me for PS Elements 3. Maybe it will help you.

Preparation:

DL Orca from MS.

Browse the PS3 CD and copy the PS 3 folder(FOlder contain the PS3 MSI file) to your network install directory.

Setup silent install:

Use Orca to open the MSI. Transform -> New Transforms

Set a SERIALNUMBER property in Property and add the serial # for the value

Click Transform - > Generate Transforms.

Test install:

Create a batch file that calls your msi with the Transforms.

I don't know about deployment but when I was looking for prices for the Master Collection (which includes pretty much everything) see here http://www.pugh.co.uk/Product...on-cs3.htm I got the following quotes for the Education Site License (which covers 500 PCs on one site and 50 teacher home PCs):

Phoenix: £7500

MicroMail: £7250

Pugh £6955

Ramesys: 6500

What if you only want to install on 200 PC's what is the option then?

An educational Site License it just that one option.

If you want less than that then other license options may be better but I imagine very expensive. As with all software licenses though, nightmare to understand.
