Projector Mount

Hi Everyone

 

I am looking for a way to attach a new projector too a current Promethean mount. The projector we are replacing is a Sanyo PLCXU41 and at the moment we a looking at replacing it with a NEC M271X. I have attached a picture of how the current Sanyo is mounted, both the plate attached to the projector itself and the mounting plate on the pole.

My question, has anyone ever replaced a projector on these poles? Can I get another plate that can attach to the new projector to save replacing the actual mount itself? The threaded holes on the current plate are 7cmx13cm

Bit of mdf with holes drilled to match the 4 you need to mount to the pole plate and then more holes for the projector pattern.

Have a look at RA Technology, Projector mounts and cages they have loads of different mounts so should have something.

Depending on how much work you want to do, we have two options for our promethean poles:

 

1. Casio Hybrid projector and a peerless adaptor/bracket (Peerless Casio Enclosure Promethean Pole Adaptor Kit PCASPRM-W). This just needs bolting together, although its a bit pricy. Its well made though. This just bolts on to the end of the threaded rod.

 

2. a sahara universal mount , and drill the hole out. Its quite thick steel though, but not too difficult a job if you have the tools, skills and time. Much better long term, as you can fit any projector on one of those. You need these bits from CPC:

1150001 - SAHARA - PROJECTOR SUPPORT, SAHARA MOUNTS | CPC

and

1150023 - SAHARA - UNIVERSAL PLATE, SAHARA MOUNTS | CPC

 

You could also drill through a bit of wood as above, but you need to make sure the screws won't pull out over time, or if the wood gets damp. Whatever you do needs to be rock solid.

Or do as I do:

 

Get that - 1150001 - SAHARA - PROJECTOR SUPPORT, SAHARA MOUNTS | CPC and take off the round bit at the top and the hole only needs a little bit of expansion then you can bolt the bar straight onto the bottom of the pole and then just get 1150023 - SAHARA - UNIVERSAL PLATE, SAHARA MOUNTS | CPC and strap it onto the bottom and all works as well

I agree with teejay. If you haven't got the tools/skills/time to start drilling metal, then look at the RA solution

 

RA Zoom + Universal Joint [RA-Zoom + UJ] : RA Technology, Projector mounts and cages

 

It will go on the end of your existing pole, and allows rotation in case the lens is on the wrong side or you need a bit of zoom adjustment without shifting the ceiling pole.

 

Have installed these in a few places and whilst not pretty, they do the job.

We have changed ours from xu41.

 

 

Measure a piece of metal cut and drill holes for the new projector or just cut the legs off the existing plate

 

Take down the other piece of the mount connected to the pole

 

Clamp the new piece of metal and the mount together with mole grips

 

Drill through existing holes (you can use the existing screws to mount them together.

 

You will need a few spacers and some longish screws. To mount the projector

We are doing all of ours right now and they look great.

 

Saved tons of cash.

Could i say that we are replacing with infocus projectors just over 250 quid each bulbs are about 80 quid.

 

The throw is pretty much the same as the xu41 maybe a little smaller but they are bright sun glasses time.

 

Come with a good warranty

Just drill out the panel you currently have.... even if you have to cut off the vertical bits of metal using the current plate will save you a fortune.

We had the same issue last year when we replaced our Sanyo's with Hitachi's. in the end we just bought these: UNIVERSAL CAROUSEL PROJECTOR MOUNT CAROUSEL PROJECTOR MOUNTS : BT880-UN2 Silver and drilled a hole in the plate left on the original mount. Doesn't look particularly good but it works and is cheap(ish) and who takes that much notice of the projector anyway?
