Edu-IT Posted October 13, 2013 Posted October 13, 2013 I want to know whether my logic is right here. I have a user, lets say for this example he's called JBloggs. JBloggs has a mailbox on the Exchange 2007 server, [email protected]. In his AD account his email is entered as [email protected]. If I go in to JBloggs' account and update the email address to [email protected], and remove any pre-existing Outlook profiles, should Outlook look for the Autodiscover at myoffice365example.com? Reason I ask is that at present, it seems to still be wanting to look for the account in the onsite Exchange.
Edu-IT Posted October 13, 2013 Author Posted October 13, 2013 Having done some more research. This seems to be to do with SCP and the recommendation is to use the following Registry Keys. Anyone agree? HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0 "PreferLocalXML"=dword:0 "ExcludeHttpRedirect"=dword:0 "ExcludeHttpsAutodiscoverDomain"=dword:0 "ExcludeHttpsRootDomain"=dword:1 "ExcludeScpLookup"=dword:1 (forces Outlook to exclude SCP object check) "ExcludeSrvLookup"=dword:1 "ExcludeSrvRecord"=dword:1
sukh Posted October 13, 2013 Posted October 13, 2013 you can use those but question is what you're trying to achieve. where should the mailbox be? on prem or o365? outlook will use scp for a domain joined pc.
Edu-IT Posted October 14, 2013 Author Posted October 14, 2013 @sukh I want them to access the Office365 mailbox, although they'll have an old mailbox on onsite Exchange which I want to keep for now.
sukh Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 Then you can use those keys to prevent SCP discovery. My questions in why would you want to keep the on-prem mbx too ? Why should a user have 2 mbx's? Outlook will configure the profile as the user has a valid SMTP and mbx on-prem.
Edu-IT Posted October 14, 2013 Author Posted October 14, 2013 There are reasons why. I know it may sound mad, but for now, it's how it needs to be. I've tried those keys but it's still finding the old server name?
sukh Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 that s because the user still has a valid mailbox. you can try & create a dummy xml on the c drive and set the preferred xml to this. question is this user with 2 mailbox, which one should be the primary?
