Hi,

I work in a secondary school which has recently bought 240 (Yes 2.4.0!) Acer W510 Iconia hybrids.

We need to image each of these tablets and are having no luck in doing so.

I've done a lot of research with out any luck.

They have Windows 8 Pro installed on them, I'm really looking for a guide on how to do this as I'm out of ideas and options.

PLEASE HELP!

Regards.

Nick.

What is the issue - where are they failing?

I dont think they have Ethernet ports do they?

edit : Ethernet via dongle apparently.

Nick - Can you not image them with the dongle attached?

We have been using WDS mainly as I've read that some people have managed to get it to work.

They are freezing when its gets to the boot from Ivp4.

We are using USB to ethernet connector, we hare having trouble with these connectors.

We bought two types to test and they both have different errors!

I'm fairly new to imaging, so please bare with me.

Need all the help I can get!

Check this out : Acer Iconia W510, can you upgrade it to Windows 8 ... - Acer Community

For those that want to PXE boot the Acer iconia W510 to WDS or MDT it does work. You have to use the Acer Asix USB ethernet adapter. It's the only one I found the BIOS supports, and shows up in the boot menu. I luckily had an Asix USB NIC that came with an Acer Aspire S7-391, and was able to test it. I tried other NICs, and it didn't work. You may have turn off secure boot and use legacy mode to get it to work, but once The OS is installed you can turn secure boot back on. If anyone knows of a another USB NIC that will PXE boot to Acer products please let me know. Another way to image the iconia tablets is to use WinPE with Imagex, and diskpart scripts. I have a step by step documentation on how to do it with WinPE 4.0, so if anyone's is interested I would be willing to share it. Just let me know. Hopefully this information will save someone else some time, research, and heartache.

Thank you for this useful info.

I cannot seem to find a Acer Asix USB ethernet adapter for sale anywhere??

I'm looking for a step by step guide to image these tablets if you have one?

Could I please have the step-by-step WinPE 4.0 document?
