sted Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 got one at a school and they are complaining about it doing a bob marley impression a lot (jamming). So opened up the back and there is a part that moves around quite a lot im wondering if thats normal or its broken as it seems ok as long as its straight when you close it and i cant see any obvious trace of broken plastic etc but it does seem odd
bladedanny Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 We have one, to me it doesn't look right. Do you have a photo zoomed further out so I can confirm I was looking at the correct part?
john Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 (edited) From that photo, I don't have the printer in question, but it looks bust, its right hand end should be up higher and fit into the gaps in the teeth above it I think you will find.... It looks like its part of the fuser that pushes the paper the right way up and out of the system and if its in the wrong spot like that one is it will jam as the paper won't flow right I'd suspect that someone has been heavy handed removing a jam Edited September 30, 2013 by john

Thats why im not sure if its broken or just some crazy design. Cant get much better photos as the bit in question fills the screen
bladedanny Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 I've had another look and the part in question does move very lopsidedly. It is however connected to something else that pushes and pulls it as you open and close the back door. 1

Looks like its ok just a damned odd design i suspect the jamming is cheap paper

This is our printer with the same access door open: http://img833.imageshack.us/img833/4100/oqnc.jpg A closer look at the left hand side: http://img202.imageshack.us/img202/948/eugd.jpg [sorry about the lack of focus] I was amazed at how fragile this part seemed. 1
Oaktech Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 Yeah... it's supposed to be up and straight. I suspect something has got jammed and someone has cleared the jam indelicately and broken that bit, or at least pulled it out of place..
