3s-gtech Posted January 27, 2023 Posted January 27, 2023 The plain-Jane MSI installed without switches or transforms from the application server share - can't properly test it at present because the invigilator PC isn't logged on (exams officer for that!) so fingers crossed.
Mike8080 Posted January 31, 2023 Posted January 31, 2023 I roll out the Invigilator MSI to one PC in a room, and then roll out the Test Player MSI with the switch INVIGILATORNAMEVALID="1" INVIGILATORNAME="PC-NAME" Where PC-NAME is the invigilator PC.
hellgate24 Posted May 22, 2023 Posted May 22, 2023 Just wanted to say this is still a problem with the same fix 8 years later! Was getting 'An unexpected error occurred' when logging into the admin dashboard, uninstalling the exam service clearly leaves something important behind as reinstalling on the same server produced the same error. Was only when I installed it on a server it had never been installed on before that it started to work again. Goobadge.
jthompson Posted March 28, 2025 Posted March 28, 2025 (edited) I've been tasked with setting this up today, for some exams in just a few days' time. I'd never even heard of this one before now: what a long thread! I have been getting the "Unexpected error occured" message when attempting to sign into the Adminstrator Dashboard. Deliberately incorrect credentials would result in "Invalid credentials or account blocked". I believe the issue was that the server I was running the Exam Centre Service on also needed to have "Microsoft® System CLR Types for Microsoft® SQL Server® 2012 SP4" installed. From https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=56041, download and install both the x86 and x64 varieties of SQLSysClrTypes.msi. In Windows Event Viewer -> Windows Logs -> Application, events from the "ECService" source indicated that SqlServerSpatial110.dll was missing, and installing the CLR Types appears to be the fix. In doing all of that, I think I got the user account blocked, but getting a password reset email from them has proved non-trivial owing to the reset emails getting rejected by ediplc.com's DMARC policy. I'm having a fun Friday afternoon! Edited March 28, 2025 by jthompson 1
