Gymnasium Floor Covering [To Protect Floor During Exams]

Hi everyone,

 

A colleague has asked me to post this message as he is responsible for the upkeep of the floor and is looking for ideas. What do others do to protect their floors under these circumstances?

Our caretakers have rolls of some sort of plastic sheet material that gets spread over our auditorium floor during exams to protect the floor.....

We have some large carpet tiles (about 8 foot x 4 foot). We use them for most large events in our sports hall. I think it probably takes a long time to lay them out. Maybe some large rolls of carpet would work for you?

Heavy Duty Visquene on a roll for us is what we have used and its been fine for years but the last year we have not bothered as it is easier to just re-polish the floor now a days.

We have a big roll of carpet for use in the Sports Hall on presentation evenings and the like, it gets stored in one of the stores in the hall itself when not needed.

We've got 2 big tarpaulins that are used on trucks, heavy duty and very heavy, takes 4 of us to get them out, we only use them for when there's exams on for a week or longer.

For sprung floors - try a 6mm hardboard with a thin carpet tile on top , 3ft by 6ft isn't unreasonable for someone to lay by themselves (I've done this many times in a university sports hall).
