Active Directory Provisioning - email address required?

Hi all,

Hope someone can clarify this for me.

We host our own Sims Learning Gateway server so therefore do our own user provisioning via SIMS on Active Directory.

I have come to provision our new Year 7 parents and in the "Select Contacts to Add to Provisioning Service" screen in SIMS all of the Year 7 parental contacts are showing up. I was under the impression (and was sure it used to be the case) that it would only be the parental contacts that have an email address in their account that would appear.

In order to reduce the number of accounts to manage we have only asked for one email address per household, but we are getting mum and dad appearing in the list of contacts to be provisioned even if they have no email address against their contact details.

Has something changed?

As far as I know, the contacts dont need a e-mail to provision.

I tend to only provision the mother in each household - we then have a seperate report for single families or dad as the Priority one who I then set an account up for.

You've never needed an email address to provision users via ADP. There was an issue that if you didn't have one entered when provisioning new users then it would not update any email address changes later. This was resolved some time ago.

Cool, cheers for the info.

Looks like I'll have to do a report of contacts with email addresses on their account as I don't want to be provisioning all contacts if they're never going to be used.
