russdev Posted September 8, 2007 Posted September 8, 2007 Not sure if this has been discussed before but nbc are making usa version of the IT Crowd. http://www.nbc.com/Fall_Preview/The_IT_Crowd/ Russ
webman Posted September 8, 2007 Posted September 8, 2007 They found a very good Richard Ayoade look-a-like!
webman Posted September 8, 2007 Posted September 8, 2007 Yes, I did know, hence the smiley... Why on earth the yanks can't just watch our version I have no idea
eejit Posted September 8, 2007 Posted September 8, 2007 I know that the states always get slatted for re-making British sit-coms, but I think that the American Office is actually really good.
tech_guy Posted November 4, 2007 Posted November 4, 2007 Why can't they make the IT Crowd based in Delhi or Bombay ;-)
john Posted November 4, 2007 Posted November 4, 2007 Why can't they make the IT Crowd based in Delhi or Bombay ;-)Cause its supposed to be humors and funny, not real life
tech_guy Posted November 5, 2007 Posted November 5, 2007 Oh, they could make it funny if they tried! ;-)
gwendes Posted November 5, 2007 Posted November 5, 2007 I like the fact that the US versions have more episodes per series. The IT Crowd only had six - US IT Crowd will be the usual 22 standard episodes then 23-24 as an end of series special- quantity over quality... I also like the American version of The Office but it's a different creature (and it's still written and directed by Gervais/Merchant)
DreddMetal Posted November 5, 2007 Posted November 5, 2007 yet another british sit-com that is going to be brutalised by the americans, red dwarf, father ted, fawlty towers, the list goes on
gwendes Posted November 5, 2007 Posted November 5, 2007 Father Ted and Fawlty Towers have US cousins? WOW - hadn't heard of them!
DreddMetal Posted November 5, 2007 Posted November 5, 2007 I'm not sure that they got released because there were conflicts, in the us father ted they wanted to tone down father jack and in fawlty towers they actually wanted to take basil fawlty out of it completely!
mac_shinobi Posted December 17, 2007 Posted December 17, 2007 The US IT crowd sounds good. Do you have to have sky or something to watch the US version ?
gwendes Posted December 17, 2007 Posted December 17, 2007 "midseason debut in 2008." (from wikipedia) It'll be available from all good torrent sites
mac_shinobi Posted December 17, 2007 Posted December 17, 2007 torrent sites - legal or torrent sites - illegal ? If legal , then which torrent site ?
gwendes Posted December 17, 2007 Posted December 17, 2007 A torrent site is not illegal - just like, say, a knife isn't illegal. It would become illegal if used in a certain way. The legality of TV torrent sites is frequently debated online and I don't think there is a clear answer from anyone. http://www.eztv.it is purely TV - UK and US http://www.uknova.com is UK TV only and strictly controls what is available - deleting content that is made available for purchase. There are plently of sites which offer 100% legal downloads over the torrent technology - http://bt.etree.org for example is excellent for live music
