Smellbow Posted October 15, 2013 Posted October 15, 2013 We have just been sent a link to a download for a supposedly new version of smart notebook and smart ink which SMART tech have stated via support calls resolves the issue. We are only just about to test it out but could anyone verify the version numbers for me so i know if it is new or old news! Thanks, note book ver 11.3.857.0 product drivers 11.3.533.0 smart common files 11.4.188.0 smart ink 2.0.719.0
tech_guy Posted October 15, 2013 Posted October 15, 2013 We were using the June 2013 version. I see there's a September 2013 version - 11.3.857.0 - is this what the tech support have told you to install to solve the issue?

Unsure if it is the same versions of everything else though. Will check next period 2
kaphc Posted October 15, 2013 Posted October 15, 2013 Very glad to have found this thread as we have found the same thing happening with IE10 and SmartInk. I've also had to show a teacher how to turn SmartInk off to get full flash content working on some websites, particularly the Handwriting Repeater on Kent's primary resources. Does it depend on the version of Notebook (some of our staff haven't run the updates and so are on version 10) or the version of Smart Ink? Might it be worth trying to roll back Smart Ink rather than the Notebook software?
jallsop Posted October 15, 2013 Posted October 15, 2013 So glad to have found this. Been driving me mad for 3 weeks. Annoyingly, the machine I get this on had a new IWB fitted so the engineer installed the new release of smart. It's a right sod to remove and replace with an older version.

Yes the link the have provided, they say, contains an updated version of smart ink that corrects the issues weve all been having. Im still yet to test it however, its been a manic day!

Smellbow Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 Ive just installed the latest package into an active classroom that has been reporting the issues so will report back if anything is resolved.

WalkinTarget Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 Just offering up this to help others out, as we ran into it first on Friday of last week and determined that the latest Flash update, 11.9, screws up the Smart Notebook flash animations. They just don't play after the Flash update. See here for details on how to resolve it for now -> KnowledgeBase - You're unable to interact with Adobe Flash Player objects in SMART Notebook software after updating to Adobe Flash Player 11.9.X Of note is the fact that we tried a previous version of Flash, also 11.8, but it was not the specific version listed in the link above, and it did NOT fix the animations, so it appears you have to use the 11.8.800.168 version of Flash to make it work properly.
Smellbow Posted October 18, 2013 Posted October 18, 2013 My test user, after a full day and a half, has reported that he has had no issues with web pages appearing blank and needing to be scrolled since the update but is still having issues with office applications appearing to hang on occasion due to a seemingly invisible dialog box relating to Microsoft ink. A partial success so far heh.
