Ok got a few problems with SG that I can't suss out..

 

1) Unable to get updates... system->diagnostics page shows Red Dot for "Attempting DNS resolution for www.smoothwall.net"

 

2) Name/IP column blank in realtime webfilter info page... and in logs page

 

All settings appear to be ok and kids can connect to the net through it..

Ok Sorted it - the "Filter Logging Mode" was set to anonymized"

Sounds like you have a mild dns issue as well - you sorted that ok?

Yes and No... still getting the error with the DNS resolution of smoothwall.net, but the updates appear to be working - got the blocklists to download, but the SG Updates just saying that none are available, so gues it's ok too as no errors now

I'd check your DNS forwarders.

If the blocklists are downloading, then it's talking to the right places and should be happy wrt licencing/updates & so forth. Still, i'd take geoff's advice - always worth checking these things out.
