I've got all my new year 7s details in a csv and i've tried programs such as dovestones AD bulk user tool but it doesn't support exchange 2013 and keeps trying to create my users as contacts and i can't even seem to disable it from creating the email accounts when it creates the users >_<

Does anyone have any better suggested methods for importing all the new users?

I use this tool - Account Management Spreadsheet combined with Bulk AD Users and some manual (but bulk) stuff via Exchange 2010 (for importing) the users after the other tools have created them never had an issue with it and it just works. Does Exchange 2013 allow you to import existing users and mail enable them which is what I did in 2010.

Are all your 7 year accounts on 1 group or ou or something? Could run a quick powershell command to mail enable them after the accounts are created.

Just did just that :D

AD Infinitum as recommended on here in another thread for creating them and the powershell script for adding the mail accounts. A bit of a pain that microsoft removed the ability to select multiple accounts for creation in a single GUI window though! :(

To be honest i didn't use the GUI anyway :)

damn kids, get off my lawn :D

With 2010 I just feed a csv file to this that makes the accounts and the mailboxes:

Function ReadCSV{
Param([string]$fileName)
$users = Import-Csv $fileName
foreach ($user in $users){
$ht = @{
'givenName'=$user.fn
'sn'=$user.ln
'alias'=$user.alias
'samAccountName'=$user.alias
'name' = ($user.fn + ' ' + $user.ln)
'PW'=$user.pw
}
Write-Output $ht
}

}
Function CreateUser{
Param($userInfo)
$secureString = ConvertTo-SecureString $userInfo['PW'] -AsPlainText –Force
$UPN = $userInfo['alias'] +  ']school.domain.internal'
New-Mailbox -Name $userInfo['name']`
-Alias $userInfo['alias'] -UserPrincipalName $UPN `
-SamAccountName $userInfo['alias'] `
-FirstName $userInfo['givenName'] -LastName $userInfo['sn'] `
-OrganizationalUnit 'school.domain.internal/schoolOU/Users/requiredAdOu`
-Password $secureString -ResetPasswordOnNextLogon $false

}

Function CreateMailbox{
PROCESS
{
CreateUser $_
}
}

ReadCSV c:\PS\testUsers.csv | CreateMailbox

feed it with small woodland creatures and a c:\PS\testUsers.csv:

fn,ln,alias,pw
John,Doe,jDoe2013,1234
