Mac Mini and MDM

As I am new to Macs I have made lots of mistakes recently. We are buying 20 iPads so I thought I would buy myself a mac mini cheap so I can run MDM on it.

 

Well.

 

I bought a 1.1 which doesn't run it so... I upgrade the chip to a 2Ghz Core 2 Duo and firmware and its now a 2.1

Not enough memory then so... I scrounged some from a older PC and its got 2Gb now

Still won't upgrade through the apps store so I got myself a dmg and am following a 'hack' to get it installed.

 

Sort of fun to go back to hacking stuff to get it to work (even enjoyed stripping the mac mini down)

 

As the disk is verifying on the mac now I thought i would ask... anyone got this working on a macmini with a similar spec??????

 

Only really want it to do MDM stuff.

You probably got one of the Mac Minis with the old GMA 950 chipset. You can get Lion to work, but not seen anything about Mountain Lion running on them, so its lifespan may be limited. Still a handy little machine though.

Not sure if that amount of time spent was worth the money you saved by purchasing a very old Mac Mini, but I suppose if you've learned a fair bit about them in the process then maybe so.
