First log on, everything fine. Second time, HTTPS sites won't load

It was hard to come up with a title for the thread as i have went around in circles for 2 days now.

 

Student user has a basic mandatory profile.

Log it on, on a fresh image. Every GPO is working fine. Internet, all fine and loads everything fine.

Log off. Log back on again and HTTPS sites stop working. Everything looks fine in Internet Options. SSL 3.0 enabled.

 

This continues until i delete the local copy of the profile. This is IE9 and Chrome. Chrome using system settings. FF works and also using system settings.

 

Time server is fine as it works for admin and the student when it first logs on.

 

I've taken machines and users out of usual OU and put it in an OU with only the Default Domain Policy where it only gets the proxy details (which is where i'm having another problem, but one thing at a time).

 

Any thoughts at all?

Driving me crazy and taking far too long.

Hi,

 

May just want to check the root certificates are there, i.e. use one the windows update to download the latest root certs and then try it.

Can't update through student as i'm guessing it's a secure connection. Fully updated through Administrator without problems.

Is it anything to do with proxy and password changes?

Just that we have a similar issue in that on first logon https sites won't load through smoothwall but are fine after the fisrt logon and passwords have been reset.

Just something to think about...

Hmmm. Not a bad thought, but we don't authenticate users through smoothwall. (If i've understood correctly)

Are you using MDT 2012 and letting the GPO pack apply in the task sequence ?

Nope. It was built as a full, fresh image and imaged using Acronis.

 

I may have made a bit of a breakthrough. I've created a new profile and it seems to work, now?! I need to test it more and try and 'break' it, but that'll have to wait until tomorrow as i've got to power off everything for some electrical work happening tonight. Typical.

 

Still no idea what was causing it, but it's progress though and i'll report back tomorrow.
