We are having problems with Adobe PDF file associations when we capture and deploy using MDT. We set the assoc so that PDFs open with Reader instead of Writer and then capture the image. On deployment the file assoc is gone and we get asked what we want to open the PDF with.

Any ideas why?

Also is there a way to set the association during the Deployment. Can it be done as a custom task within the Task Sequence?

I never managed to set the file associations during the deployment...

So I end up creating a group policy.

Just create a new group policy and set adobe reader as default program for PDFs.

Hope that helps

im guessing sysprep pulls it out and reverts it to default as above group policy would set it back might even be "fixable" by installing reader after writer thus being the newer association when sysprep runs. Failing that boot into audit mode and set possibly?

Of course the sysprep will reset the GPO but you need to set up the group policy in your AD.

So once you move your computer in AD it will apply.
