Xerox Printer 'Fake' Paper Jam

Hi,

 

I’ve got a Xerox phaser 6010 which has an error message saying it has a paper jam open rear panel. When looking, there is no paper in the printer anywhere.

I’ve turned the printer off and on but it has no effect, I’ve also tried add paper to the print tray (this was some advice given) the display screen doesn’t acknowledge that

the rear print door is open, although I’m not too sure if it’s meant to when there is a paper jam. There are no obvious problems in the printer and nothing seems to be stuck.

 

Has anyone else had this problem or got any ideas on how to solve this?

There will either be something very small somewhere stopping it or a part somewhere is too loose or something so it thinks there is a paper jam.

does it definately say its a paper jam because we have a few of these printers. do you just get the red light on the printer?. or are you using the brother print monitor to diagnose the fault?

Majority of phantom jams are caused when clearing paper against the flow.... this either rips the paper and leaves a small piece under the switch actuator OR actually pops the arm out leaving it in a continual error state if its a mechanical switch, if it's a photo-interrupter switch then dust is a common cause (if there's no paper). Without seeing the printer can't be more specific than this as there's no internal diags on these printers to say which switch is at fault.

Thanks for the replys, the error comes up as paper jam on the printer screen. the paper came out whole on all three printers, however i can only open the back panel, also no other parts come out other than the ink.

where would the most likely place for the sensor to be?

If your certain there's no corners of media stuck in there, it can only be a switch actuator popped out OR dust on a photo interrupter switch.... switches can fail but in all honesty in all the time I worked for Tektronix/Xerox I never replaced one that wasn't damaged from user intervention.
