Just got back from seeing this at the cinema. I loved the book and knew the only thing they kept was the name but....... I really enjoyed most of it. The first half I was quite excited which is unusual and it was quite tense... a bit like the walking dead without the gratuitous gore and add steroids and your there. Even Pitt was bearable.

Actually, I dont think there was any gore at all.....which was a welcome treat.

I think it was my fave film of the year so far after the dissapointing Star Trek and IM3.

 

Heartily recommend it.

They filmed a lot of it in Glasgow; nowhere else in the world you can get those dark grey skies daily without fail.

I don't know, some that I were disappointed with Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil, both Dan Brown books (done out of order, and aside from Tom Hanks, nobody is how they are described in the books), Bicentennial man, sphere, the running man...but to name a few

 

All horribly underdone, watered down plots, toned down idiosyncrasies, poor adaptations in the long term.

I have to agree with the OP. Just got back from seeing it and i too would really recommend it. Not read the book but the film as a film was great.

 

Really would recommend it and the 2 hours you are watching flies, but didnt see it in 3d dont really think it would be any good in 3d.

Shaun and I have just come out of the cinema here in San Antonio. It's an ok film but has nothing to do with the (far superior) book which is a bit of a disappointment. I expected at least some of the books plot to be in there.

Don't know if you all saw the same movie I did as I thought it was an absolute turkey! Zero suspense and no character development whatsoever.

 

The Zombies themselves seem to evolve from generic CGI ninja hordes to comedy twitchy ones in the medical facility at the end. I'm not the only one as the whole cinema audience were in hysterics laughing at them by the end of the movie! Perhaps someone saw the glitchy movement of them in an early DayZ build and thought it was there for artistic effect

 

As someone who loves most Zombie related games/movies I'd expected much more of World War Z especially from the reviews I've read. Maybe you had to read the books first!

@RabbieBurns they filmed bits in Grangemouth too. Probably the most exciting thing to happen in the auld toon in years. A few of my cousins wandered along and watched the filming.

Not seen world war Z but on the book ---> Film front. Perks of being a wallflower, the book is AMAZING and the film had nowhere near the emotion/suspense of the book. Nick and Norah's infinite playlist - The book is alright, bit of trash to read but the film had absolutely nothing to do with the book at all. Completely different storylines

Nick and Norah's infinite playlist - The book is alright, bit of trash to read but the film had absolutely nothing to do with the book at all. Completely different storylines
