Windows 7 wallpapers on Server 2008 domain

I'm experiencing some issues with wallpapers on Windows 7 clients on Server 2008 domains. At one school I am seeing different wallpapers for different users of the same type (ie pupils) and I'm not sure why that would be. Someone suggested to me that it is because the user profile takes the wallpaper of the first machine the user logs into; ie if the user, for some reason, logs into the Server then it takes the server wallpaper as its own. Some users have Windows 7 wallpaper, some have black backgrounds.

 

At another school I'm seeing a different wallpaper for the same user on different machines; on one I see the Windows 7 blue wallpaper, on another I see a completely black wallpaper.

 

I guess it's not a huge deal but I'm a little concerned that this is a symptom of something else I need to be worried about. Is there an easy group policy method of forcing the wallpaper to something specific; ie the Windows 7 wallpaper?

From what I understand unless you have GP set to force wallpaper, the user will get the default wallpaper which is on the first machine they log in to.

 

A black background could be a sign the machine is not activated, other than that you could wipe their roaming profile.

You can also set wallpaper using BGInfo which is also useful for having PC name, asset number, last user etc as part of the wallpaper.

Run it at login via a GPO using "\\server\netlogin\Bginfo.exe" \\server\netlogin\student.bgi /SILENT /NOLICPROMPT /TIMER:0

I found that the wallpaper wont work on Windows server2008 R2 with client on Windows 7 via GPO. There is a hot fix available that resolved the issue for us.
