We are finally, after years of waiting, having an Exchange server and a single domain migration. As we use sims.net it would be very beneficial if core distribution lists were automatically created from the data held in sims.net i.e.

classes

year groups

form tutors

head of departments

head of years

subject groups

SLT

Has anyone managed to achieve this? we are also getting URMA to account management (talking to sims.net it will provision user accounts and close them if someone leaves the school). I know some groups may not exist i.e. SLT. (these can be created manually.)

The aim is to direct information to where is needs to go instead of clogging up everyone's inbox. It will also allow for more efficient communication and collaboration.

Salamandersoft. It'll do *everything* you want and more.

For example we have...

teachersof.studentname

class.10/ab (Sims code)

Groups automatically created. Staff can email those lists.

It also automatically creates student/staff accounts from SIMS, email addresses the lot. It also does it when that person leaves as well (and archives their work off elsewhere)

We do sweet FA nowadays when it comes to user management, it's awesome. Without wanting to sound like a paid shrill you NEED this software :p

thanks for the replies... we are getting URMA from tools4ever.com which is very similar to the Salamander software. I will update on the progress

It doesn't link into SIMS thought from the information on the website...
