Mouse settings for all users on an iMac

Hello

I currently have 20 Macs set up using a mac mini as a server and profile manager to manage the Macs.

 

Is there a way to set the right click to secondary click as default for all users on a Mac? I have looked at all the settings in the profile manager and scoured the internet for clues but can't find anything.

 

If anyone could shed some light on this it would be very much appreciated.

Is there not a plist for mouse control? If there is then just copy that to each machine and it should (theoretically) work.

Can't find one on any of the Macs.

Library/Preference - com.apple.driver.AppleHIDMouse.plist.

 

However that's in the user preferences and I can't see one in the system preferences so you might need to drop it in to each user home drive.

Defo not there, Google says look in System/library/loginplugins/contents not there either. Tried whilst logged in as Admin, staff and student!

If you use WGM to deploy settings, just set the mouse as you want it on a client, download/login to WGM on the client, find the .plist file (as above) then go back into WGM, click on the relevant computer/user group (depends where the .plist file is found, if it's in a user folder apply this setting to users, system folder apply it to the computer group etc) and then click on preferences, then the details tab, and drag it into there.

Can't find anything to change mouse settings in WGM. I can allow the user to change the mouse settings, but I don't really want that. The less settings the students can change the better.

Can't find any download links for the plist anywhere either.

Or any script I can copy and save as a plist?

I set this up in a similar way - logged into one imac as an admin and configured my the mouse settings. Then opened WGM, selected the relevant group and Preferences\Details and clicked the Add button to locate the \users\admin name\Library\preference\com.apple.driver.AppleBluetoothMultitouch.mouse plist file. That seemed to sort it out nicely.

Yes that's the right place - what I did was order them by date modified (newest at the top), open up a system prefs window next to that, change the mouse settings, then change them back to the settings you want, and the .plist you need will be the latest modified one. Then just copy it/export into WGM computer/user list and they'll be applied.

I had to make sure I browsed to HD\users\name\Library\Preferences through Finder - otherwise you might be viewing HD\Library\Preferences and thats not going to show the plist you modified
