Local Group Policy ignored

Hello - I have another question!

 

I have two machines, XP Pro which are members of a Windows 2000 domain. These machines are on an 'admin' network which is a VLAN on the main school network. As a result of this, the GP from the Windows 2000 DC doesn't get to the machines (network manager doesn't know a way round this so if you do, let me know..). We use the local group policy on the machine as a replacement. However, on these two machines, I can set my options in gpedit.msc, log off and log in as a vanilla user, and all of my GP options are ignored - such as the desktop picture and any printers added locally as administrator vanish.

 

Has anyone seen this issue before, or am I doing something stupid?

If Domain Group Policy processing fails, the machine will not even attempt to process Local Group Policy settings (as it needs to do both to generate a correct RSOP).

 

Run netdiag, GPMC modelling/results wizard, etc to troubleshoot and fix your domain GPO problem.
