Flashed supported Browser

Im wondering if you can recommend some flash based browsers for the ipads?

From your own experiences etc

um... none? Apple hates Flash. Dunno if skyfire ever made it over....

You can't unless you jailbreak the device.

Flash uses a heck of a lot of system resources, and is full of bugs, and is being updated almost weekly. These are some of the reasons why it's not supported on iOS. Most websites will migrate over time to HTML5, which will remove the need for flash in many cases. If you are looking for a particular website, then there may be 'an app for that' instead.

I'm guessing its educational sites that are flash based. This is where ipads fall down. Unless you have a rdp server and use a rdp client.

Puffin, however we found it crashes a lot, and it's not free (but cheap)

There is no real workaround, other than seeing if there's an App or a HTML5 version of the website you're using.

 

And it's been said many times before on this forum - but why did no one check X, Y, Z website wouldn't work on the iPad?

We're looking at buying iPads and using Photon browser to use flash on MyMaths. I understand the way it works is that flash runs 'in the cloud' (suppress vomit) and streams the resulting output via non-standard ports (mustn't go anywhere near a proxy server) to the photon browser. I have pointed out that it probably won't work very well, but staff here are determined to get iPads to run it despite everything. Imagine we'll end up with a big pile of shiny useless kit with staff blaming me for not getting it working properly - cos at home - it just works.

Sounds about right - and you will be dammed for all eternity because you spoke out of turn and suggested that the SLT had not researched the issues fully, but what would you know your just a technician....
