chrbb Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 As the title says, looking for a laptop with Windows 8 pro downgrade to windows 7 pro. Hp apparently now don't provide customers with downgrade disks but have a selection of laptops on their site with both OS options. Not as cheap as Misco etc etc. Anyone bought one recently? We only use OEM btw.
witch Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 (edited) Try @Millgate - they often have a good range Edited May 17, 2013 by witch
RTFM Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 Yeah @Millgate will probably be able to help, Luke isn't bad
Millgate Posted May 17, 2013 Posted May 17, 2013 Thanks guys! What about the HP Probook 4540s? Part code H5J01EA#ABU. £390 ex vat with free shipping Luke
RTFM Posted May 17, 2013 Posted May 17, 2013 If you wanted to go away from HP (we like them I might add) then we also have some Toshiba's and they are really nice Just an alternative perhaps.
SteveB_NI Posted May 18, 2013 Posted May 18, 2013 I have a number of Probook 4540s' and they are great laptops - lovely finish to them too! I bought them before Win 8 but I know we got them with Win 7 Professional licenses.

Looking at the Lenovo ThinkPad Edge E535, any opinions anyone?
jmak Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 Looking at the Lenovo ThinkPad Edge E535, any opinions anyone? Looking at the Edge E530 - same chassis, intel processor. Look good for the price, I've been warned that the touchpad is an unusual design. I've tried it and think it's fine, but I'm ordering one before I commit to a full set, just to see what users think. I bought HP620s last time and everyone hates them, purely because there's an extra set of keys on the LH end of the keyboard. It means that the ctrl, shift and caps lock keys aren't where you expect them, which I agree is really annoying. Reminded me that it's about more than the technical spec / build quality.
