I'm so glad we no longer have any CRT monitors in our school, actually we're at the stage this year where we have an excess of TFT screens, around 50 or so spare ones where we've decomissioned old workstations.

 

We would have kept them all in service, but they're all 15 inch, and everone wants 17" screens now and with prices as they are there's no excuse really!

If I were you, I'd use an IT removal company to help clear some space. There are alot of companies that are starting to charge alot of money for the service. We were quoted £900 for the removal of our kit, but luckily we found a company called lcws that took it all away for free. They even took away a load of old bbcs and cub monitors.

A lot of charities will still take CRT monitors. We got rid of about 30 of them last year. It cost us the transport fees, but they were far less than getting a WEEE accredited removal company. Plus, we got a certificate for doing it.

If you post me a large enough SAE I'll post enough monitors to build a store room with. But you'll have to find your own smartboards to make the roof.

Unfortunately Kent to Dorset is a bit far!

How much would it cost to send them over, do you think? Or maybe I could get the boss to let me pop over and get them (for a fair price, of course!)

Although they're spare, we'll be keeping them and maybe buy some cheap PCs to use with them in quieter areas of the school like SEN and our inclusions unit.

 

The PCs that were with the monitors were too poor to keep in service, hence the reason the PCs have gone, and the monitors are spare. I dred to think how much they cost the school when they were new, they are mostly samsung screens manufactured in 2003.
