Lets put it into context

 

Last time he announced his retirement, United had a massive dip in performance, think they dropped 15 points out of a possible 27, by which point he said he is staying on. Now he is at the pinnacle of his career, he has won 49 trophies in 20 years, which by any standard is phenomenal, he has the highest turnaround of players in terms of amount paid for then sold for/valuation (Ronaldo, Rio Ferdinand etc), he also has a club loyalty with players and develops good grass roots relationships as he regularly hosts childrens' club matches across the country, which is also why the Utd youth squad is ridiculously strong also.

 

Lastly, he will have a massive input over who replaces him, and there have even been hints at Carlos Queiroz coming back also, which cant be ruled out as there is no guarantee Iran will keep on his contract beyond August this year.

Anyway...good riddance to Fergie. Always came across as a nasty piece of work. Banned the BBC because they exposed his son in a Panorama programme.

 

I like Alex but his son is the idiot! When he joined us at Preston he said all these things and went back on his words time after time.

 

As for Alex, I dont think anyone should have a bad word about him, hes one of the most successful managers ever. There is no denying that and the game wont be the same.

 

As for Utd, I dont think they will ever be the same again.

English Football will not be the same. This is a huge loss for the game. 26 Years of success deserves some respect surely???

OK, he is no doubt one of the most successful managers ever. With people of his calibre managing all of the Olympic sports disciplines, we would get even more medals. However, at then end of the day he is simply a football manager and didn't merit all of the news coverage he received. There are far more important issues in the world.

He was a bit annoying at times but he won all his titles on merit (this from an Arsenal fan)

 

Also, if Moyes takes charge I can only see another successful period (he's done better than liverpool have this season and on a fraction of the budget!) He's proven at getting the most out of players, knows a good buy when he sees one and knows how to build the kind of team spirit Fergie demands.
