maniac Posted August 10, 2007 Author Posted August 10, 2007 where the fibre comes and goes to. . . . HBJB That's another nightmare in this school, fibre running all over the place. There's at least two sets of fibre in the school, one running in a loop from cabinet to cabinet (don't know what order they're in thou) and a second that's run out from the previous server room 2 pairs of fibres per cabinet all back to one fibre patch panel that's not labelled in any way (except from 1 to 16) There's then 8 pairs of fibre linking our new building (where our server room is) to the old building.
mjs_mjs Posted May 1, 2010 Posted May 1, 2010 (edited) we now have 14 patch cabs.... the 2 42U ones next to each other in the server roon had a mess like clarksons belly - hanging over about a foot out into the room. in the first year's summer holiday we hit it and reduced and tidyed it alot. then removed more and moved things about - this break just gone we removed 96 patch cables (room now being used as foot tech you see). so thats more cables gone... now we have a server room looking like a server room and not a cable closet. i wonder if i have pics neware... unfortunatly not but her's some others. MatthewL Posted May 1, 2010 Posted May 1, 2010 We only use 0.3m and 0.5 cables for patching, varying colours though. Makes it so much easier to work in, got another 5 or 6 cabinets to do in full across various sites this year, all Saturday jobs.
Rydra Posted May 4, 2010 Posted May 4, 2010 See attached image, bet you wish your cabs looked that tidy
Hightower Posted May 4, 2010 Posted May 4, 2010 See attached image, bet you wish your cabs looked that tidy Some of your cables seem to be getting strained....
Rydra Posted May 4, 2010 Posted May 4, 2010 Some of your cables seem to be getting strained.... They are all 0.8m-1m patch cables, and disappear down the sides. They all have at least 1ft of slack on them. Only thing applying strain is the weight of them all on the wall joists! Getting the cabinet reanchored, and a new cabinet put in, floor mounted to hold the switches, so that'll be a new day of patching
