Hi All, We currently use GLPI to track all our assets but it can be a pain when doing an inventory check, which we seem to do more and more of!

Is there a system out there that maybe links in with a barcode scanner to speed this up?

I have seen WASP but I don't know if this is any good!

Thanks

QR codes and or barcode reading using a phone camera is still slow and frustrating though.

Barcode scanner hooked up to usb on a phone/tablet or Bluetooth barcode scanner is much better

I'll take a look at SAM as well then. I just need to justify the cost to the Finance director as compared to GLPI, which is free, it looks expensive!

We have used WASP since 2008, its ok but a little quirky, however that is probably a lot to do with us using an older version. The barcode side of it doesn't work that well but the software side is fine. Main issues we have is, the barcode labels fade to easily, so need re-printing every couple of years. The barcode scanner, is based in windows CE (I'm guessing the newer ones are better). I have been told a lot of the problems I have with the scanner and software (it doesn't work on 64bit machines, not automated backup) have been fixed in the latest version (we are on version 5), which would be fine if it didn't cost almost as much to upgrade to version 5 as it does to buy the product outright.

Using WASP v6 here, started with v5.5, with a windows mobile PDA. I wouldn't personally recommend it for a school, it's not great, quite clunky and the PDA is dreadful.
