Rawns Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 I've started using the Zombies, Run! Couch to 5K app and am really enjoying it, however recently my headphone jack has become a bit "temperamental" on my HTC Desire HD and some sound goes quiet/cuts out etc unless the jack is held in a certain way (which is hard when running!) Rather than the expense of sending it off for repair, I was thinking it may be easier to buy a dirt cheap basic Android smart phone purely for running with, on that can run the Zombies, Run! app, has enough room for a bit of music and also has GPS tracking so I can accurately map my runs. I wont bother putting a SIM in it as it's not needed. Anyone have any recommendations?
aerospacemango Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 Have you considered the Samsung Galaxy Ace? These are ok little phones and would probably do the job you want for very little money. There would be plenty of phones for you to choose from.....Have you tried somewhere like CEX? CeX (UK) Buy & Sell Games, Phones, DVDs, Blu-ray, Electronics, Computing, Vision & CDs
Achandler Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 have you checked the jack hasnt got full of lint, I have seen this before where unless you are physically pushing it in, then it won't work.
Danp Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 Selling 2 HTC Sensations soon, one has a few dead pixels on screen so will be going for cheap.
Garacesh Posted April 25, 2013 Posted April 25, 2013 Selling 2 HTC Sensations soon Recently bought myself one. Would recommend as a main phone. Wouldn't recommend it "just" for Zombies, Run! but if you're going to use it for more than that, it's a lovely all-rounder. I can give a better review if you really want xD I've looked at Zombies, Run! but that was whilst trying to find the similarly named Zombie, Run! (which plots your location on Google Maps and surrounds the route to your destination with 'Zombies' that you must avoid )
SteveBentley Posted April 25, 2013 Posted April 25, 2013 I used one of these as a workaround for a broken headphone socket Sony Ericsson MW-600 Bluetooth Stereo Headphones: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics Should work on any Bluetooth enabled phone. 1
Arthur Posted April 25, 2013 Posted April 25, 2013 I won't bother putting a SIM in it as it's not needed. In that case... www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B008JCZ542

Oooo thanks. Can't seem to find any Android smartphones around that price so this looks like an ideal solution.
jinnantonnixx Posted April 25, 2013 Posted April 25, 2013 I use a Huawaei Blaze (£40). I bought it as a stop-gap phone as I keep wrecking them, but it's now 6 months old and going strong. So far it's been a surprisingly tough little phone.
