how to ban games?

Bit of a rant, every tuesday night there is a club that uses the computers but most of the time the kids are unsupervised and are playing games.

Now my understanding of the swurl smoothwall was we put kids through a different port that is more filtered than other ports

so kids through one port staff another and admin/head another each with separate filtering.

Surely the primary kids post should have most of the games blocked by default??

Every week im going round finding the urls and adding them to the list.

I know this is a classroom management issue, but I just seam to be firefighting all the time.

The short answer is "it depends how you've configured it".

 

I'd suggest you open a ticket with Smoothwall or post about it in the direct support forum asking for help reviewing the config (or send them a config dump).

Sounds like your LEA has got the keys to the smoothwall policies - first stop is check with them that your students do have games blocked.

 

Meanwhile, if you could email me the list of games sites you have so far, I will have someone ensure they're correctly classified, and teach the content filter to catch others like them.
