I work for company that recently acquired a company that has a Sun Storage 7410 that has a really old firmware and many problems. I have been able to get my hands on the most recent firmwares 2011.1.5.0 and 2011.1.3.0. We have a current CSI with Oracle it just does not have firmware access.

My problem is that I need firmware update 2010.Q3.2.1 for my 7410 hardware in order for the server to be upgraded to this latest firmware. Back when Sun was still Sun, this would not have been a problem, but they were absorbed into the shambling horror of a company that is Oracle. Good old Oracle now requires an expensive support contract in order to access firmware updates for Sun hardware that long predates Oracle's acquisition of Sun.

What I need is for some sympathetic fellow IT person with access to CSI with firmware access to download this old firmware pack and to provide it to me. Here is the link to the pack that I need:

https://updates.oracle.com/Orion/Services/download/p11887647_120_Generic.zip?aru=14164363&patch_file=p11887647_120_Generic.zip

I am willing to trade the newer version for the older one if someone needs it.

Any help I can get with this would be greatly appreciated!

No access to it here sorry but I am not sure you want it, from what I have heard is a total horror show and people who have upgraded have spent months working with Oracle trying to make them remotely stable. I think @john was one that had one of them, you are probably way better off looking at a better solution like a different SAN all together. Edited by SYNACK

Mine function that is as far as I would go, if its on a Sun badged firmware don't bother going to the Oracle one as it will just get worse seemed to be what happened to mine, I know @bossman has got his on a Sun firmware still and its brilliant but alas the global giant decided to make it there own and we got a less than good system in the end which is a great shame.

Thanks SYANCK and John for the quick response and will keep that in mind. Do you know what the last Sun firmware was? My 7410 is currently at 2010.Q3.1.0 but the previous company complained of it locking up all the time and running really slow.

I have factory reset it and replaced both SSD drives with Intel SSD and replaced one of the 500GB drives and it seems to be running pretty good now but I am not throwing a heavy load at it yet because all of the issues the previous company had with it.
