AceDaz Posted March 28, 2013 Posted March 28, 2013 I have just purchased a MacBook Pro and need SIMS and FMS on it. Capita are sending out the Media as we cannot download it from SOLUS. Has anyone installed and used SIMS and FMS on a Mac? How easy is it to setup? Thanks
Sylv3r Posted March 28, 2013 Posted March 28, 2013 Your going to struggle, unless you create some sort of VM with Windows or Windows on a bootcamp install or via remote desktop if you have that in your school. It's not designed to run on MAC's.
synaesthesia Posted March 28, 2013 Posted March 28, 2013 If it's a one off, you slap the person involvfor buying a Mac without consultation. If it's something that could happen more often, then maybe investigate methods of streaming SIMS such as RDP, Citrix etc from a Windows server.

Was a purchase by the HT, I suppose there is RDP Web Services?
synaesthesia Posted March 29, 2013 Posted March 29, 2013 Yes. You'll need an app on the Mac I believe but they are two a penny.
robjd Posted June 8, 2013 Posted June 8, 2013 RDP comes with Office 2011 if that helps. We use a VMware Fusion on our handful of Macbooks which does the job perfectly.
Quackers Posted June 8, 2013 Posted June 8, 2013 The best experience you can have is to use Parallels Desktop in Coherence mode for SIMS.net thats what i use.
