Office 365 Light version

Does anyone know how to enable the Office 365 Light version on the upgraded Office 365? I can find it in the odd version but since its been upgraded, I can't seem to fins how to do it. Even spoke to Microsoft Support and they don't know how to do it! I am waiting a phone call back from them.

 

Any ideas @jamesbmarshall?

@jamesbmarshall The light version of OWA that is available on the old version of Office 365 that you can select from the Accessibility page in the settings. It looks like this

A client wants to use that version at the moment because Office 365 upgraded version is so slow using IE on Win XP. It works alot better in Firefox than it does in IE. The Microsoft Office 365 support team that we spoke to didn't know how to enable the light version in the upgraded version of Office 365

When Microsoft Launch Exchange 2010 the idea was that the Outlook Web Access was the same across browsers. i.e. no light option as per 2007 and previous. You can use the Blind/Low Vision Experience but this is different to what you want.

 

So, Yeah Outlook Web Access from Exchange 2010 On-wards is the same for all browser versions to keep consistency.

 

I know this is so for IE/Firefox/Chrome... as Michael says though, maybe it does different in safari.

I think it's more so to do with what platform you're viewing it on. Tablets or Smartphones seem to get the light version and not the full version. It is a pain when creating user guides as the interface is totally different.

 

Edit: For example this article needs updating. Viewing Office 365 using any browser on an iPad or Android phone does not display the full version.

Its not Exchange 2010 I was asking about. It is the new upgraded Office 365 that we would like to enable the light version on. We know that it is there because 1 account has it enabled but not sure how and the Microsoft office 365 support doesn't know how to do it!

Which version are you referring to Wave 14 or Wave 15?

 

Live@Edu are being migrated to Wave 14, no upgrades to wave 15 are currently in progress.

Ok, so your using Wave 15 - I am just going to give this a test, but i know that with Exchange 2013 On-Premise you can use the following powershell command:

 

Set-OwaMailboxPolicy -Identity "insert here" -OWALightEnabled $True

 

It might not be so though in Exchange Online.

Set-OwaMailboxPolicy -Identity "insert here" -OWALightEnabled $True

 

It might not be so though in Exchange Online.

I'll give the powershell command a try tomorrow and see how I get on.

 

Yeah it is wave 15 - just had a look online at what wave 15 is! lol!

Hi Mate - no problem, it seems the option is not in the ECP at the moment like it should be so don't be shocked if it don't work it's probably due in a service update soon.. as it should be under general settings > access ability

yeah that is where I thought it should be but nothing is there! There isn't anything about access ability in the settings what so ever!

 

I'll try it and let you know how I get on.

 

I can't get over how slow it is when you are using Win XP with IE8. It works so much better in Firefox!
