The roots of the tree that stood there before were lifting the paved area around it, so perhaps that's why it was removed. Other well established trees in the same pedestrianized avenue have also been removed. 1

Happy St David's day to eveyone - especially those in Wales (I used to live there!) now - I don;t want to be pedantic (!) but last time I looked Taunton was not in Wales?? has the National Assembly been land grabbing while we are all looking at Ukraine???
