Free Network Monitoring Software - Pigcat

Pigcat is a free network monitoring application created by myself. It uses PHP/MYSQL and is packaged with a web server. The aim was to create a very simple network monitor that I can check on my phone and displays the status of all websites, servers and network devices I'm responsible for.

 

Main Features:

• Monitor any network device that responds to a ping request
  
• Monitor Windows Server CPU, Memory and Disk usage via WMI
  
• Monitor websites actual uptime by checking for text on the page
  
• Interactive graphs for historic data
  
• Mobile friendly interface

Looks good and thanks for this I am off work for a few days but have had a look on your website and installed it on a VM on my laptop just to have a look at the functionality and see how easy it was to set up, was very easy and could see this being quite useful, so will do a bit more testing when I get back to work, so thanks again . particuliarly like the idea of accessing this info by mobile phone as could quickly see if any issues without out logging onto anything at work I know their are other systems that do this but looks good. Thanks for your response Steven. I have used many network monitoring applications in the past and found the majority of them over complicated so you end up wasting time looking at information you didnt want to know in the first place. Pigcat simply tells you if a device is up or down and displays basic server performance info aswell.

 

It's worth mentioning that you do need a dedicated machine for Pigcat as the browser needs to be left running on the Pigcat page to poll the devices. A chromium based browser is recommended

No problem and thanks for putting this on,have had a quick look at your network monitoring tool and exactly as you say looks easy to use set this up at home, changed passwords etc in a few minutes will be really interesting to take a look at. Sort of realised the bit about dedicated machine and the browser being open as your info on your website was very easy to follow so thanks. I have a VM in work that I leave on for something similiar so might try it on their or create a new VM for this .
