Little-Miss Posted February 14, 2013 Posted February 14, 2013 (edited) Ok, so staff are trying to print reports using Target Tracker. The report has some colour coding in it. We seem to be having an issue with the green. Some printers are printing the green and some are ignoring it completely. The printers are installed on a server and then dished out via a script, i've compared the drivers in the properties of a working printer and a non working and they are the same. The printers print green otherwise quite happily...any thoughts? Edited February 14, 2013 by Little-Miss
Little-Miss Posted February 14, 2013 Author Posted February 14, 2013 What? no one wants to point out something obvious that i've done\not done\missed?! Just been toying with the idea that 3 of the printers had a firmware upgrade during the toner fiasco but then there is a printer in the "doesn't print green" list that hasn't had its firmware touched....
soveryapt Posted February 14, 2013 Posted February 14, 2013 My suggestion would be to try upgrading the drivers (if there is an upgrade available) and seeing whether that helps at all. Failing that to try a complete reinstall of one of the non-green printing servers. 1
Michael Posted February 14, 2013 Posted February 14, 2013 If exporting to MS Word 2010 (for example), select File > Save As then select PDF. Print the PDF to the printer. If using an older version of Word 2003 for example, install a free PDF printer such as Cute PDF and do the same. I've had similar problems with Publisher 2003 to certain printers/photocopiers. Sending the file as a PDF did the trick
Little-Miss Posted February 14, 2013 Author Posted February 14, 2013 Nah, they print straight from Target Tracker. I took TT out of the title in case that was putting people off.
Gaz Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 Is it possible to change the colour of that key item to a different one?
Little-Miss Posted February 15, 2013 Author Posted February 15, 2013 Not sure. But I guess green = good.
Little-Miss Posted February 25, 2013 Author Posted February 25, 2013 Ok, not sure what to do with this. I've installed one of the non working printers on to my machine and not running through server. I've tried different drivers but this doesn't seem to make a difference...any ideas?
Gaz Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 (edited) There must be a difference between the one that works and the one that doesnt work. Try and find a common link between the two PC's/Printers. Could even try an image of a working PC to a non working PC. Edited February 25, 2013 by Gaz
X-13 Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 (edited) Is it ink or toner? Refils or legit? Is it a case of being unable to print green at all or just through Target Tracker? [if it's just through target tracker, take a screenshot and try to print it through paint. That way you have the exact green it's using.] If its refilled ink, check the nozzles. We've had a lot of problems with refils causing blockages in the nozzles which we can't clear. Also, take a screenshot of the advanced colour selection in paint... [or just use mine.] and check if blue and yellow are coming through properly. Edited February 25, 2013 by X-13
Little-Miss Posted February 25, 2013 Author Posted February 25, 2013 I did wonder if it coincided with the issues id had with the refill toners but its also affecting printers that weren't touched... Printer prints advanced colour things fine. The issue is only affecting Target Tracker....
X-13 Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 Printer prints advanced colour things fine. The issue is only affecting Target Tracker.... Is it all colours that are getting stripped out, or just green?
X-13 Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 Expected: Reality: Yeah... I'm going to go ahead and diagnose this as "Aliens". It's probably Target Tracker creating print jobs in a weird way... 1
Gaz Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 (edited) Have you contacted Target Tracker about this issue? maybe its a bug in their software that only happens under certain conditions. In the mean time this may help... http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/214N63V%2BlEL._SL500_AA300_.jpg Edited February 25, 2013 by Gaz 3
john Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 Contact the people that coded the software it could be a bug. We had a good bug in our print management software a couple of years ago that .pub files over 2 pages took 40 pages of credit and it was fixed in the next release but was only one one printer and its driver so the solution before the new software was use the newer sibling printers drivers that worked on it as well and job done. Could you print to PDF then print the PDFs? We had to do that to avoid an Excel 2010 issues with Toshiba drivers for our old copiers
Little-Miss Posted February 25, 2013 Author Posted February 25, 2013 It's an option. You know what staff are like, you just try to give them as little steps as possible. Gatt Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 Another option would be to Prove the staf with the following items: 1x A4 pad of paper 1x pencil 1x Eraser 1x Pencil Sharpener 1x Ruler 1x Calculator Job Done PS - replacements = 50p per replacement What? That's what I had to make sure I had with me at school everyday - and they were checked at registration! 2
X-13 Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 (edited) *hangs head in shame* Lol... Le EDIT: Wait... what!? How was it printing other things in colour then? [And the other colours on the print out.] Edited February 26, 2013 by X-13
Gaz Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 So that option was ticked on the other printers (working)? If not that may not be the cause but it may be a work around. So its sorted?
Little-Miss Posted February 26, 2013 Author Posted February 26, 2013 Lol... Le EDIT: Wait... what!? How was it printing other things in colour then? [And the other colours on the print out.] Hmmm, I was going to say because the green looks almost like a cell colour. I can copy and paste the other bits so i'm guessing its an image or font?! *grabs wildly at answers*.
