PIXL Maths Webinar using Citrix GoToWebinar Blocked by LGFL 2

Hi,

 

We have recently been told that we are connecting to a Citrix GoToWebinar with Pixl for maths exam preparation during half term. I have requested with Atomwide to have the ports unblocked and was told they they are unable to open the ports.

 

Unfortunately this is blocked under LGfL2 as the system behind the "GoTo" products allows remote access. We are unable to unblock this.

 

Anyone else encounter this ?

I have got to ensure the same is setup here ready for half term but the staff have not given me any contact details or anything to test. Have you had any contact details?

You can test whether your systems will connect by going to the test site on citrix online :Test Your GoToWebinar Connection - GoToWebinar

 

Your school would also have needed to register your pupils so they can sign on to the webinar.

 

Our issue is we cannot even connect because it is being blocked by lgfl. As it stands not even our head teacher can authorise this as we do not have OTP tags and support is telling me this cannot be done without the OTP tags. Very frustrating.

This will be catagory 2 filter policy which is the scary remote access stuff thats allowed in LGfL land with your head agreeing and OTP tags deployed in the school. They deliver the tags real quick and once setup gets you access to a pile of products including this one and teamviewer to name but 2. Tags also work with remote access so they are worth the effort.

This turned up at a school from the organisers of this webinar and there indeed appears to be a help case topic of "Access Pixl Webinar" to go with it on the support site.

Colleagues,

 

For colleagues wishing to access the Webinars from schools who use LGfL2.0,

I have agreed with LGfL the following protocol for schools to ensure access.

 

The process will be as follows,

 

1. School raises case via a nominated contact https://support.lgfl.org.uk

 

2. Case is raised under the topic "Access Pixl Webinar"

 

3. Ports and filtering will be altered just for the sessions on Thursday and

Friday

 

4. From Friday 1PM and onwards the security will revert back to

normal and schools that wish to precipitate in future sessions will have to

obtain and register OTP keys (second factor authentication) for all

nominated contacts Inc. heads and then the head will have the ability to

authorise the use of category 2 remote access products.

 

5. School ICT technician will have to make a few adjustments to the

filtering and then it is all setup.

We ended up purchasing the tags and getting the head to authorise category 2 remote access products. Will see how it all runs tomorrow.
