  1. Solved : Turns out the user I was running the update with did not have access to the Database for SOLUS. Used SQL studio with the SA details and gave the user permissions. After that ran the update to 3.12.50 and then to 3.12.59.
  2. I can attempt to run the latest installer but sure I read I needed to go to 3.12.50 first before going to 3.12.59. As SOLUS is not working at all at the moment if I don't get any joy from ESS today I will try do the direct to latest update and see if that sorts it. Glad you got yours running.
  3. Update : Found the download file for 3.12.50 and now having a different issue when running the SOLUS upgrade :
  4. I started a new role in a school this week and scheduled to do the Spring update this weekend. Logging on I see the SOLUS version as 3.9.0.18. I have downloaded the latest version as 3.12.59.5 but the KB says I need to update to 3.12.50.2 first - anyone know where I can get the download files for this version? I can't update within SOLUS (even though the packages had been autodownloaded) because of the URL change.
  5. Some have asked and I have just received a reply that they refuse to change to a 1 year contract. Stating "... no exceptions made"
  6. Ok the first computer worked! I am gobsmacked I am not going to count my chickens just yet but that loaded as expected will update after checking the rest of the room. Thanks Steve21. UPDATE: Rating test run on all systems and all systems have aero now.
  7. Thanks, I am trying that now. I didn't think this would be it as when I log on as a domain admin the aero theme is loaded.
  8. We have a software package that requires the aero theme to be loaded in order to work. When we went around the room we noticed half the systems were already loading the aero theme and half were not. No problems so I thought as I set group policy to load the aero theme. What I have tried : - Setting the user policy Admin Templates/Control Panel/Personalization - Load A specific theme (cleared the profiles of the system as this only works on first logon) - Setting the user policy Admin Templates/Control Panel/Personalization - Force a specific visual style or force Windows classic - Attempted each on their own and both together - Tried pointing to the local win directory and to a network share - Also thought maybe I could let the pupils change this themselves using a loopback policy but for whatever reason our policies were still preventing them from getting into the personalization screen. What really boggles my mind is that if I log on the entire room with the same new user account then half have aero on the others dont. Any suggestions ?
  9. I ended up using my phone as a hot spot and activating the Cubase 9 Pro dongles from a laptop. I am now having other issues with installing.
  10. Apologies for the late reply. I managed to see the Smart Boards at a tech show. Have decided the 4065 is too small for our needs. Thanks for the offer Simon.
  11. I am based in Croydon and wondering if any schools have the Smart 4065 (or 4000 series) LED touch Displays or the Epson Touch Interactive Projectors? I wouldn't mind paying a visit to a school in Croydon/London to check these out in action before parting with the schools money. Currently we run a Smart M685 with Epson EB475W projectors at one of our sites am looking for the above at our other site. Drew
  12. I see some LA websites have them for download - just not mine. And as you said since I go to Capita direct I don't have any way of getting the import files. I will keep looking.
  13. As in the Capita MyAccount support - I am but they do not have the service term definition files for import.
  14. What I am looking for are the import files for items such as pay scales. I might make a start and enter them in manually. Thanks anyway.
  15. We are looking at running our school workforce census off of sims - previously finance and personnel have being doing it manually. I am trying to find the import files for Service term definitions for London Outer and London Main. I can't seem to find the files anywhere, we get our support direct from capita. Could anyone assist ?
  16. Look under the memory modules (remove them) and look for something that says JMCMOS. You may need an electronic conductivity tool to bridge the two points of the jumper to reset.
  17. We are looking at getting some Kobo E-Readers for the library and would like to have them mounted on the desk securely. Something along the lines of when you're at a store and you can rotate and tilt but not remove the device. Anyone use something like this or have an idea of how we could go about it. I have found a few but they all seem to be for the larger IPad type tablets. Drew
  18. Just had a chat to the union and they have stipulated that it is a reasonable request as they do not have other teaching staff to cover these duties at the moment. If I refuse I could be pulled into a disciplinary and not have a legal route to go down as my contract does state they may ask me to perform additional tasks. What I can do is ask for additional training and voice my concerns and as to why I require this training (conflict resolution, child protection etc) and list why I am not comfortable in performing the requested duty so that I cover myself. All in all I will suggest a compromise to get a selected duty and make sure that this is only until there are more teaching staff to cover. Again thank you for all the responses. Another item to add to the list of "Jobs the IT staff perform"
  19. Thank you for all the responses - my first attempt at asking politely if we can be removed from the list has been denied with various reasons. I am going to stress again why we should not be on the list and then see from there. Answer to some of the responses: - This will not cut into our lunch time or allocated 1 hour break as we can take it when we see fit. - I do feel this is out of the scope of our jobs for what we have been hired to do - I would've been less likely to be so upset by this if it was a choice and maybe asked to help.
  20. I am already in one and will see how this pans out. I am not against helping out but I know this may take up more time than the set 20 minutes p/week. I do think that once we agree to this that it will then be forever assumed that we are on duties and the number of duties are likely to increase. I also know that if there was an incident during the duty, even a minor one, that I would have to write it up and identify pupils and everything else that goes with it. We only know a handful of pupils names.
  21. I think I would have felt better about it if we had been asked rather than told. I am going to ask politely that we be removed from the rota when I go for my LM meeting tomorrow. The duties that we are have been told to do is 1) to supervise the library and 2) be responsible for an area of the playground. This will also mean that anything we are working on before this duty period can't overrun - I can just imagine starting to fix a serious fault on the system and having to stop so that I can stand in the playground.
  22. Hi all, Myself (NM) and my technician have just been told that we are now doing a break duty once a week supervising pupils (No teacher present). I am curious if we can refuse to perform these. It is once a week and only 20 minutes but I know this is how it starts - next it will be twice a week and then it will be lunch times as well. What really gets to me is that there was no consultation or checking whether we could help out. It has been assumed that this is now part of our weekly tasks and we have been told. After the rota was sent out with our names on it - a while later another email got sent stating that it is now common for support staff in other schools to perform break duties. 1) How many of you guys/gals (I am curious about IT staff) are told you have to do break duties? 2) What happens when there is an emergency with IT over this duty? 3) Are we allowed to supervise children without any training? I am thinking if a fight breaks out or something happens in the area we are responsible for - We do not know the pupils names and as we don't have much dealings with them have no authority over them. We already do many jobs to help out that is outside our general scope which we are happy to do but think this is a bit much. It does state in our contracts that we may be asked to perform other tasks but surely they have to be somewhat related to what we are trained to do?
  23. We ended up purchasing the tags and getting the head to authorise category 2 remote access products. Will see how it all runs tomorrow. Thank you for the responses.
  24. You can test whether your systems will connect by going to the test site on citrix online :Test Your GoToWebinar Connection - GoToWebinar Your school would also have needed to register your pupils so they can sign on to the webinar. Our issue is we cannot even connect because it is being blocked by lgfl. As it stands not even our head teacher can authorise this as we do not have OTP tags and support is telling me this cannot be done without the OTP tags. Very frustrating. PM if you need some more info on the actual webinar. Drew
  25. Hi, We have recently been told that we are connecting to a Citrix GoToWebinar with Pixl for maths exam preparation during half term. I have requested with Atomwide to have the ports unblocked and was told they they are unable to open the ports. Anyone else encounter this ? Drew
