Hi

We are currenty setting up Veeam Backup & Replication 8 (Hyper-V) starting with getting our SIMS server vm backed up first.

SIMS SQL Database is currently backed up with DPM 2012 and is in simple recovery mode.

When creating a new backup job in Veeam, under Application aware processing should I enable "Require successful processing" and "process transaction logs with this job". Will it cause issues with DPM?

Also what should these options be when backing up our virtualised domain controllers and exchange server (both also currently backedup with DPM)

Many Thanks

You back up your SQL database to cloud storage????

Yes... you don't believe in cloud backups for some reason? ;)

EDIT: just in case you hadnt read my link, its also encrypted.

I backup all our SQL server databases in this way for a 2nd level of protection.

You certainly are more trusting than me with your confidential mission critical data.

My motto - if it isn't in the server room then it isn't trusted :D (old fashioned, I know)

any good recommendations for cloud vendors?

I've used Skydrive, Amazon and Azure for automated backups. All pretty much of the same.

The software I posted above will connect to any of those services, encrypt the zip file and upload the data by just typing the service credentials.

Its pretty cool and brilliant for piece of mind even though I already backup the entire VM with Veeam.
