Best HTPC Remote?

As some of you will already know, I'm in the process of building an HTPC/SteamBox and I'm now looking for recommendations as to a remote control. This will be purely for use on the HTPC side of things, we already have Xbox pads for the games and I'll be getting a decent wireless KB/M for non-pad games.

 

To my mind, these two look to be about the best options but I'm wondering if any of you who have actually used an HTPC remote have any recommendations?

That exact KB is on my list to possibly purchase - the plan is to play games on it for a couple of weeks and try to decide how crucial a separate mouse is for the kind of games we'll be playing on the big screen - I suspect a pad will be fine for most games and many of those that require KB&M the touch pad will be sufficient, but we'll see. of course what I really want is a Steam controller but I reckon we'll be lucky to see those in the next 6 months...

If you're booting straight to xbmc you could just use your smartphone?

I use the RII mini and it's a bit poor with the distance from keyboard to receiver, I can get about 1.5 metres before it starts being unresponsive, otherwise its quite good and cheap.

That's not going to cut it, could knock the Rii out of the running...
