Limit £600 ex vat ish (with or without OS) Will be 15.6" or smaller Will need reasonable battery Will be for video editing Will need to run some VMs Oh and maybe look good too.... This one has last me 4 years and is starting to show its age, inspire me

Its more for school clips, so very limited wont needs fancy addons. The CPU in that laptop is new to me (A6 3410MX) is it any good?

PassMark - AMD A6-3410MX APU with Radeon HD Graphics - Price performance comparison Those scores are just taking into accout raw CPU power - the AMD Fusion processors are a lot more and can out perform Intel on anything that uses the graphics core (which is built into the CPU). 1

Am I the only one who feels like this? Somewhere in between - I use a PC for most tasks and a netbook for general browsing because I like to have a real keyboard when it comes to typing. The ASUS Eee Pad Transformer is looking very appealing to me... 1

MrwITch has a Dell XPS 17 i5 and my daughter has a Dell XPS 17 i7 and TBH we havent noticed any real difference in anything much. She got an i7 because that was the one that came with the whizzy graphics, huge amount of RAM and big hard disk that she needed for Uni. They work pretty much identically in terms of speed etc. Funnily enough, given the above, I'd recommend a Dell! Edited September 16, 2011 by witch 1

featured_spectre Posted September 16, 2011 Posted September 16, 2011 Mrs and myself have i5 and i7 respectively, all other aspects are the same (ram, hdd etc)...only difference we see is the boot up speed. As for laptop or PC...I oddly have grown attached to my laptop, and use it far more than a PC...I find a PC too burdensome and I like the mobility that comes with it 1
